Parish: Isagaza
Sub-County: Kapyanga
County: Namayemba
District: Bugiri
Distance to nearest water source: 5 km
Population: 3,500 Adults + 6,000 children
Namayemba West has a population of 3,500 adults and 6,000 children. Currently, these villages have to walk 5 km each way to collapsed protected well for their water. Only a little trickle of water comes out if it has rained recently.
Some notes about Namayemba West from the field officers:
The children will be able to enjoy the fresh water from this borehole. We have also a trading centre which normally holds many people on the market days who will also enjoy fresh water from the borehole if dug. This Village once had a protected well but it has collapsed and therefore, the little water which comes when it has rained, is drawn by just a cup. As a result of delays by mothers, domestic violence is common in many homes. Children are at risk of rape as a result of delay. The water source is busy and this makes it unsafe for the communities. The water source is shared by animals too.
